Higgins

Higgins     When I got Higgins, I was the owner of a bird shop. I would get my babies from breeders at the age of three weeks and hand feed them until they were weaned, then sell them in the shop. The breeders from this one aviary would let me pay for the babies with seed. The day they brought me this tiny little Timneh Grey I knew, from that day on, he was special. You see, as I looked at his Hatch Certificate, his hatch date was the 29th of October, my father's birthday. I never named my babies because that seemed to make them even more special and I would want to keep them. But since they were letting me pay for him with seed I thought, what the heck, and named him Higgins. Higgins and I grew to love each other very much. The day came when a family emergency happened and I felt it was best that I sell the shop to be at home. I found a buyer and as the days got closer to closing, it was getting harder and harder to leave all my babies behind. With Higgins, it became impossible. I couldn't bear to leave him. I had a seed credit with my breeders and they had a baby Timneh. Perfect, I replaced Higgins and he came home with me. I have never regretted that decision. Higgins is fantastic and so very smart and, might I add, spoiled rotten!
